BOHIN, French handicraft brand with over 190 years of history

In this article, we would like to introduce BOHIN, a long-established French handicraft manufacturer that celebrated its 190th anniversary last year. This French brand is not only famous within Japanese tailor world, but also super popular with ApparelX international tailor clients.
BOHIN was founded in 1833 in *Règles, a small town in Normandy, France, by Benjamin Bohin’s father, who later expanded the business. Benjamin was 11 years old at this time. *Reagle is a region that has been making needles (pins) since the 12th century.
Here, Benjamin learned the manufacturing process and craftsmanship from the founder, and in 1841, at the age of 19, he introduced the assembly line (production) to the traditional manual process. His originality and creativity led to innovations in the productivity of Bohin products, rationalization of work methods, and the introduction of new manufacturing techniques and inventions.
In 1860, at the age of 38, Bohin entered the needle business in earnest. In order to win the fierce international competition, he traveled to many countries and regions of the world to analyze the technology and accumulate knowledge. His plan was successful, and he was able to grow the company faster, modernize the factory, and patent a number of innovative products.
In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded a gold medal at a major international trade fair in 1889.
Since its founding, BOHIN has established a firm position as a French manufacturer of needles and sewing tools, and has continued to increase the number of loyal customers throughout the world as a unique entity.
