Characteristics of high function textile SOLOTEX: Things you shouldn’t miss.

In recent years, many textile and fabric manufacturers have been producing high function fabrics. But what is considered high function fabric? Let’s take a deeper look into those special materials and find out.

What are fabric’s functionalities?

There are many different types of fabric functionalities: Fabrics which functions were added afterwards with chemicals, and there are also chemical fibers that are possible to add functions from the raw material stage.

I’m sure you’ve seen about many of these functions on the tags of fabric before. However, in this article, we will focus on one of the popular high function fabric: SOLOTEX

What is SOLOTEX?

SOLOTEX is a fiber developed by Teijin Frontier Limited for apparel products.

It is made from a special polyester material called PTT (polytrimethylene terephthalate).

Solotex has a spiral molecular structure that is different from ordinary polyester, and this structure is the key to Solotex’s functionality.

Solotex is used by major outdoor wear brands and fashion brands, and many of those brands you may know.

Let’s take a look at SOLOTEX functionality one by one.

1.Outstanding softness

It is said that the smooth texture of Solotex knitwear surpasses that of cashmere, a luxury material. Fabrics made of Solotex are extremely soft and smooth to the touch.

It is amazing that it is smoother than cashmere, isn’t it?

2. Excellent shape recovery

Due to its spring-like spiral molecular structure, Sorotex has high shape stability and recovery properties. Even after repeated washing and folding, it does not wrinkle easily, making it easy to care for.

3. Comfortable stretchability

Solotex has high stretchability not only vertically and horizontally, but also diagonally. This means that even well-fitted items are less constricting and can stretch freely as you move.

It is also good for stretch suits, which have been on the rise in recent years.

4. High compatibility with other fibers

SOLOTEX can be mixed with other fibers to make the most of the texture of the fiber. Solotex works well with natural fibers such as cotton, and by mixing it with other fibers, you can take advantage of the characteristics of the other fiber while also adding Solotex’s own characteristics.

SOLOTEX is a great product that can stand up to its opponents while maintaining its own high specifications.

5. Superior cushioning

Even after repeated compressions, SOLOTEX does not sag and quickly regains its fluffy volume. SOLOTEX also has excellent durability, so its texture lasts for a long time.

For this reason, it is also used as a material for pillows, futons, and coat padding.

6. Excellent Dyeability

SOLOTEX is easy to dye and has a high fastness to dyeing, so its beautiful colors last for a long time without fading. SOLOTEX can be achieved with a wide range of color variations from deep colors to vivid shades of color.

7. Environmental friendly

A portion of Solotex is made of plant-derived raw materials. Up to 37% of the total of some Solotex fabric is made from plant-derived materials. This reduces the use of new petroleum resources and contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases.

SOLOTEX is not only a high function textile but also sustainability.
