Today, I would like to introduce you to the fabrics of styletex, a company that deals in high quality gabardine fabrics.

About styletex

It was established as the sales division of a fabric factory that manufactures coat fabrics for famous coat manufacturers in Japan.

This high-density coat fabrics, which are the result of many years of experience and accumulated technology, are highly evaluated both in Japan and abroad, and have been used by big fashion maisons and hi-fashion brands.

Styletex has an integrated production system from yarn dyeing to weaving, and quality control is thoroughly implemented in each department to ensure a stable supply of competitive fabrics.

Characteristics of Styletex fabrics

This time, the fabric registered with ApparelX is styletex’s standard gabardine fabric.

Here are some of the attractions.

Feature 1: High level of color fastness to light

One of the worst enemies of cotton coats is fading due to sunlight, isn’t it?

If the light fastness is low, the color will yellow or fade to white.

The dyeing process for the four styletex fabric items shown here is yarn-dyeing, which ensures that the yarn is dyed to the core. In addition, the use of indanthrene and sulfide dyes provides high lightfastness and durability to withstand many years of use as a coat.

Feature 2: Interweaving different colored yarns

As you can easily see in the image, different colors of yarn are used for the warp and weft.

The number of warp yarns is larger than the number of weft yarns, so the color of the warp yarns is based on the color of the weft yarns, and the color of the weft yarns can be seen slightly from different angles.

Not only the fastness, but also the color expression like this is a characteristic of yarn dyeing.

Feature 3: Water processing

Styletex’s gabardine material is densely woven and has excellent windproof properties, but it is also water-repellent and has acquired a water repellency test Grade 4 (JIS L 1092).

As you can see in the image below, Grade 4 means that water does not moisten the surface of the fabric.

The four products shown this time have all passed this 4th grade standard.

Repeated dry-cleaning reduces the effectiveness of water-repellent finishes, but styletex fabrics maintain their Grade 2 rating even after three dry-cleanings.

DS7000 Cotton yarn-dyed gabardine

This yarn-dyed, high-density gabardine is made of 100% Giza cotton. It is characterized by its deep color, luster, and luxurious feel. The yarn is dyed with indanthrene dyes (light to medium colors) and sulfurized dyes (dark colors) that have excellent light fastness. This is a popular gabardine that is used by many hi-fashion brands.

DS80752 Cotton-polyester yarn-dyed gabardine

Yarn-dyed, high-density, lightweight Gabardine” is made by interweaving super-long staple cotton with polyester. By interweaving polyester dyed yarn in the weft, it is resistant to wrinkles and has a lightweight feel. In addition, the use of different dyed yarns in the warp and weft gives it a deep color, luster, and a sense of luxury. The cotton warp yarns are dyed with indanthrene dyes (light to medium colors) and sulfurized dyes (dark colors), which have excellent light fastness.

DS1600 Polyester cotton yarn-dyed gabardine

Yarn-dyed high-density memory touch gabardine is woven with polyester warp and super-long cotton weft. By interweaving different dyed yarns in the warp and weft, it features a deep color, luster, and a sense of luxury. The cotton weft is dyed with indanthrene dyes (light to medium colors) and sulfurized dyes (dark colors), which have excellent light fastness. Polyester is used for the warp yarn, which prevents wrinkling and provides a memory touch.

SI77007 Cotton silk yarn-dyed gabardine

Yarn-dyed, high-density gabardine with cotton warp and silk/cotton weft interwoven. The cotton warp and weft yarns are dyed with indanthrene dyes (light to medium colors) and sulfurized dyes (dark colors), which have excellent light fastness.

By interweaving silk from “Matsumura” in Kyoto, which is used by many maison brands, this product is characterized by its luster, suppleness and luxury.

You can feel the moistness of the silk.

It also has the luster and suppleness that only silk can provide, giving it a different flavor from other gabardines.
